Names of God: my daily confession of faith

God the Father

You are the everlasting God, the Almighty and Holy One.  You are faithful, merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in love.  You are God Most High, the great I AM, the First and the Last, my Lord, my King and yet my Father.  You are Creator and the Lord of heaven and the earth.

You are the God of glory, who reigns in majesty, with justice and in power.  You are the Lord of hosts and all authority belongs to you.  You are the Hope of Israel; You are the Lord of Righteousness, the Lord who sanctifies, my salvation.  You are the God who is Love, my Redeemer, the Lord who is always with me, the Lord my Shepherd.  You are the God of peace, the Lord who provides, the Lord who heals.

You are my Rock, the One who gives me strength, my Protector and Defender, a Shield about me.  You are my Light and my Life. 

Jesus Christ

You are the Holy Son of God and the Son of Man, my Saviour and my Lord, the Messiah, God’s Anointed Christ.  You are the Word of God and through You all creation came into being.  You became the Suffering Servant who died to free me from sin and the power of the evil one, the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. 

You are the Way, the Truth and the Life.  You are the Light, who came to impart the Light of Life.  You are the Gate for the sheep and the Good Shepherd.  You are the Branch, the True Vine in whom I live.  You are the Bread of Life, the living Bread that came down from heaven. You are the Rock of my salvation, my Redeemer, my Fortress and my Might.

You are my Merciful and Faithful High Priest.  You are my Wisdom, my Righteousness, my Holiness and my Redemption.  You are the Head of the Church and both its Foundation and Chief Cornerstone.  You are the Beloved One in whom I live.  You are Faithful and True, the Faithful Witness and the Amen to all God’s promises.  You are the Resurrection and the Life, the Lord of lords and the King of kings, the Lord and Judge of the living and the dead, the King of glory: my Master, my Teacher, my Friend, my Victory, my Lord and my God.

The Holy Spirit

You are the Holy Spirit of God, the Spirit of Christ, given me by His grace: The Spirit of Holiness who lives in me.  You are the Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding, the Spirit of Revelation, The Spirit of Knowledge and the Fear of the Lord, the Spirit of grace and the Breath of God. 

You are the Spirit by whom Jesus was conceived and the Spirit that raised Him from the dead in triumph.  You are the Spirit with whom He was anointed and theSpirit with whom I have been anointed by God’s grace.  You are the Spirit of my adoption as God’s child, the Spirit of Love and of God’s Power, the Counsellor who will always be with me, the Spirit of Truth.  You are the Spirit of Faith, the Spirit of Life, the Spirit of Glory, the Living Water and Fire of God.
